What's in a name?
My name is David A. Thompson. I started getting into photography about seven years ago. I specialize in landscape, nature, and automotive photography. Living in southwest Virginia gives me access to the stunning natural beauty of. not only my home state, but eastern Kentucky, east Tennessee, and western North Carolina as well.
So what's up with Wednesday's Light?
Google "David Thompson Photography". You should get around 23 million results. Not only are there a lot of David Thompsons in the world, a lot of us like to take pictures too. Obviously, using my name for my business wouldn't work. How would you be able to find me by just searching my name?
One of the first shots that I took that really convinced me that I was getting pretty good at photography was of fall leaves reflecting in the sunroof and paint of my FIAT 500. This car picked up the name "Wednesday" fairly early on in my time with it. A friend of mine thought it was creepy that it had speech recognition and could understand voice commands. So the car was creepy like Wednesday from the Addam's Family and the name stuck. As a side note, traditionally, God created the sun, moon, and stars on the fourth day, Wednesday. And it is very hard to take a picture outdoors without light from one or more of these sources of illumination.
What gear do you use?
I shoot with Fujfilm mirrorless digital cameras and lenses and a variety of vintage Russian lenses from 1950s and 1960s.
